Anambra State, located in southeastern Nigeria, was created on February 3, 1976, from the former East Central State. Initially, its capital was Enugu. However, in 1991, a reorganization led to the split of the old Anambra State into two, with the present-day Anambra State retaining Awka as its capital. The state’s name is derived from the Anambra River, a tributary of the Niger. The indigenous population of Anambra State is predominantly Igbo. PURPOSE OF THE GROUP: Are you from this State?
